PLA Daily 2005-06-10 　　 　　Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department, came to Peking University and Tsinghua University yesterday to see the national defense students, and he stressed that the national defense students of the new era are the precious talents resource for army building, and the future and hope of the army. Therefore, they must get a clear understanding of the heavy responsibility shouldered by them, have a great ambition and work hard with a will to make the country strong. They should be assiduous in study and physical training according to the requirements and standards of "loving our homeland, seeking after the truth, being bold to create, being down-to-earth and developing all-sided abilities", and try their best to improve their qualities and to grow up to be useful people required by the national and army building. 　　Li Jinai also noted that both Peking University and Tsinghua University are the institutions of higher learning with great reputation in China and have made great contributions to the national scientific and educational development and to re-energizing the Chinese nation. The two universities boast the good tradition of caring for and supporting the national defense, have cultivated a large number of excellent people for the army over the past years, and have played an important role in the historic process of boosting national defense and military modernization. 　　Joining him in the visit included Tang Tianbiao, deputy director of the General Political Department, Zhou Ji, minister of education, as well as leaders from the four general headquarters/departments of the PLA, Peking University and Tsinghua University. 　　By Ding Haiming 　　(June 10, PLA Daily)
