The Peking Opera Troupe of Xingfan City, Hubei Province staged a play
of Peking Opera--"Story of An Artist in Xiangyang" for veteran soldiers of
the General Political Department (GPD) and affiliated organizations, who
took part in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, on May 30
and 31. Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director
of the General Political Department of the PLA attended the event and
watched the performance on May 31.
Before the performance, Li Jinai met the leaders of the Xiangfan
Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government as well as the
actors/actresses and staff of the Peking Opera Troupe of Xiangfan City,
and extended his sincere appreciations to their wonderful performance. Li
Jinai said that Xiangfan City enjoys the glorious tradition in supporting
the army and giving preferential treatment to the families of servicemen
and martyrs. The special performance for veteran soldiers who took part in
the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression fully embodies the
people's respects, love and esteem for their immortal deeds in fighting
for the national independence of China. He also stated that the PLA should
inherit and carry forward the splendid traditions of these veteran
soldiers, do a sound job in the various work of the organs of the General
Political Department and make new contributions to the promotion of the
military changes with Chinese characteristics.
