Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, recently emphasized during an investigation and study tour of the troops stationed in Shandong Province that the Party committees at all levels should uphold the important thought of "Three Represents" as the guide, earnestly implement Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building, and unswervingly put into practice Chairman Hu Jintao's important directive on "carrying out the military training in a deep-going and sturdy way", so as to genuinely make the military training a strategic priority in our work, grasp it firmly as a constant central task of the troops and promote the all-round development of the troops and preparations for military struggle.

During the investigation and study tour, Guo Boxiong visited some units of the Navy, the Jinan Military Area Command, the Air Force and the Armed Police Force stationed in Shandong Province, where he listened to the reports on the military training and on how to strengthen the all-round development of the troops. He braved heavy rain to make on-the-spot investigations and study of military ports and training grounds and inspect the training assessments and comprehensive drills of some troops. He also held discussions with commanders at various levels.

Guo Boxiong pointed out that at a democratic life meeting of the Central Military Commission on how to maintain the advanced nature of the Party members, Chairman Hu Jintao made an comprehensive, systematic and profound exposition on the military training, which is very pertinent and has great guiding significance. We must make an in-depth study of the exposition so as to acquire a deep understanding of it and implement it faithfully in our work.

Guo Boxiong further stressed that the whole army must stick to the principle of seeking unity between combat and training so as to make trainings closer to actual war and meet the needs of actual war.

Guo Boxiong also pointed out that the command-and-staff training, training related to new equipment, joint campaigns and combined tactical training under informationized conditions as well as specialized trainings especially those with high technology contents and military educational institutions training must be highlighted.

Guo Boxiong finally emphasized that the military training must be carried out in a scientific way so as to boost training quality and efficiency.
