　　Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the PLA General Political Department, emphasized at a videoconference on ideological and political education that we must earnestly implement the important directive of Chairman Hu Jintao, do various educational work well out of a strong sense of political responsibility and strive to make ideological and political education more effective and relevant so as to make fresh progress in the reform and development of the army building.

　　Li Jinai pointed out that Chairman Hu's directive has charted the correct orientation and course for strengthening and improving the ideological and political education in the army, thus the army must conscientiously seek unity ideologically in light of Chairman Hu's important directive and earnestly implement the realistic and pragmatic spirit in ideological and political education. The army must study and comprehend the important directive in a deep-going way and grasp its essence and implement it in all aspects of the army's ideological and political work by proceeding from the height of implementing the Party's ideological line, strengthening all-round development of the army and performing the army's historical mission. The army must carry out education in light of ideological trend of officers and men, and put the point of departure at solving practical problems and regard the implementation of the education as an important benchmark for measuring the quality and ability of the leading organs, and make truth-seeking and pragmatism as an important guiding thought in the ideological and political education.

　　Li Jinai continued to point out that to strengthen the regular ideological education in the army and do ideological work in a deep-going, careful and solid way is an important aspect of implementing the important directive of Chairman Hu and strengthening the pertinence and effectiveness of the ideological and political education. Thus we must help the officers and men to foster correct world outlook, views on life and values, grasp the new characteristics and ideological trend of young officers and men, stick to and carry forward traditional ideological and political work of our army, pay attention to mobilizing and protecting the enthusiasm of the cadres and do ideological and political work in a deep-going, careful and solid manner.
