Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of
the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, stressed in
a recent study tour of military educational institutions in Nanjing that
efforts should be made to boost the capability of the Party committees of
military educational institutions to a new level.
During his
study trip, Guo made an inspection tour of the Nanjing Political Institute
and Nanjing University of Technology, where he watched the political work
simulation training demonstrations and an exhibition on important military
scientific achievements, visited the teaching faculties and scientific
research personnel, and had cordial chats with students in their
dormitories. He also held discussions with leaders of military educational
institutions and research institutes stationed in Nanjing.
Guo
pointed out that in the building of military educational institutions,
ideological and political work must be given first priority, and efforts
should be made to keep to the firm and correct political orientation. He
called on military educational institutions to strive to enhance the
quality in the training of the high-caliber talents and in scientific
research by taking teaching and scientific research as the core of all
their activities. He stressed that the principle of being strict with the
army must be earnestly implemented so as to ensure the high degree of
stability and unity of military educational institutions, and the Party
committees should make efforts to constantly strengthen themselves so as
to give fuller play to their role as core of leadership.
