PLA Daily 2005-01-21 　　 　　Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission, director of the Patriotic Public Health Campaign Committee of the PLA, and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, emphasized at the plenary session of the Patriotic Public Health Campaign Committee of the PLA he ld on Jan. 20 that the patriotic health work of the PLA should target at ensuring the health safety of the troops and focus on establishing “civilized hygiene barracks”. The army should make great efforts to enhance the civilization and public health construction and to improve its environment and public health quality, the comprehensive disease-prevention ability, the civilized hygiene quality as well as the overall health level, so as to serve the successful fulfillment of various missions centered on preparations for military struggle. 　　Liao Xilong pointed out that the patriotic health work of the army is closely related to the broad officers and soldiers in terms of being sound in mind and body, and plays an indispensable and important role in preparations for military struggle. We should follow the requirements of the Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu Jintao and actively promote the expansion of patriotic health work from peacetime to wartime, and from barracks to the outside of the barracks.
