Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director
of the General Logistics Department of the PLA met with Vincenzo
Camporini, deputy chief of the Italian Defense Force yesterday in Beijing.
Liao said that bilateral relations between China and Italy had been
developing smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic
relations more than 30 years ago, and the two sides had conducted
extensive cooperation in political, economic, cultural and military
fields. China valued Italy's role in Europe and International affairs and
was willing to further cooperation with Italy in various fields.
Liao expressed his confidence that the military relations between the
two countries were promising in the new century and the two armed forces
had great potential for cooperation.
Vincenzo Camporini said that Italy valued the relations with China
and China's economic construction has gained admirable achievements and
Italy was willing to strengthen the cooperation with China.
Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of the general staff of the PLA also was
presented at the meeting.
