Yesterday, Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Konul met the visiting Chinese
Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xu Caihou and his party in
Ankara.
Xu Caihou stated that ever since China and Turkey established diplomatic
ties 30 plus years ago, the friendly cooperative relations between the two
countries have been making sustained progresses. The Chinese government and the
Chinese armed forces value the sound relations with their Turkish counterparts
and are willing to work together with the Turkey side to further enhance the
friendly cooperation in various fields between the two states and two armed
forces.
Xu Caihou further remarked that in this visit lies exactly the purpose of
"promoting understanding, expanding common views, enhancing friendship and
boosting cooperation", as well as further enhancing the friendly and cooperative
relations in various sectors between the two countries and two militaries.
Konul said although Turkey and China are quite far from each other, they
have all along kept close contacts and the relations between the two countries
and two armed forces have been developing smoothly. Turkey will, as ever, stick
to the one-China policy and is committed to developing friendly ties with
China.
