On Aug. 25, the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) and the General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA sent a telegram of congratulations to the Chinese delegation in the Athens Olympic Games. In the telegram, the GSH and the GPD expressed their warm congratulations to Peng Bo, an athlete from the army, who won a gold medal in the final round of Men's 3m Springboard concluded in the small hours of Aug. 25. As the first athlete from the army to win a gold medal, Peng Bo has won the honor for both China and the PLA.
In the congratulatory telegram, the GSH and the GPD highly praised Peng Bo's excellent performance in the competition and called on all athletes from the army to take Peng Bo as their example, and unite as one and redouble their efforts to win more honor for China and the PLA.
It is learned that at the 28th Olympic Games, athletes from the PLA have so far won one gold medal, two silver medals (won by Wang Hao in Men's Table Tennis Single, and Li Jie in Men's Shooting 10m Air Rifle) and one bronze medal (won by Gao Feng in Women's 48 kg Judo).
