The ceremony awarding a second-class merit citation to the Construction Engineering Research Institute of the General Logistics Department by the Central Military Commission (CMC) was held yesterday in Xi'an.
At the ceremony, the order for merit awarding signed by Chairman Jiang Zemin of the CMC was read out. The Construction Engineering Research Institute is the only institute of the PLA engaged in the research of camping equipment, and mechanized and automatic equipment. For years, this institute has carried out the research based on the needs of troops and has made remarkable achievements. So far, it has achieved a total of 161 prize-winning scientific research results, of which two have won second-class national scientific and technological awards, five have won first-class military scientific and technological awards, 45 have won second-class military scientific and technological awards. A large batch of equipment it developed have reached the international advanced level and many of its achievements have filled the vacancy of the logistics equipment of our army. The equipment it developed has made a historical breakthrough in camping equipment development of our army and greatly boosted the field survival capability of our troops.
