In mid-June, a logistics sub-department of the Nanjing Military Area Command staged a drill of rapid POL support for campaign operation. In the face of the emergencies such as burst of the oil pipeline and the field POL depot catching fire at the front line, the firefight element and rush repair element immediately rushed to the spots at the order of the commander to put out fire, block up bursts, rush repair the pipelines and remove troubles. Soon, the POL supply line was restored and the supply was resumed. The elements of this logistics sub-department managed to accomplish the tasks 7 minutes ahead of the stipulated time.
In order to improve the capabilities of its POL support elements to deal with contingencies under various situations, the logistics sub-department, in light of the requirements of actual operations, set various difficult situations to let its troops undergo intensive and rigid training. By doing so, it has remarkably enhanced the emergency support capability of its POL support elements. The logistics sub-department also took its troops to unfamiliar and complex areas, and asked them to modify wartime POL emergency preparedness plans and established wartime POL quick reaction elements and rush repair elements in anticipation of situations likely to happen in real combat. At the same time, the logistics sub-department prepared difficult training contents centering closely on the requirements of actual operation and carried out quick reaction drills with real equipment and under actual combat situation with focus on key POL supply links, such as receiving, storage, distribution, check, repair, withdraw and defense, etc.
