Beijing MAC artillery brigade adopts network technologies in training

PLA Daily 2004-06-21

In late May, an artillery brigade of the Beijing Military Area Command applied a string of network technologies in its training from element tactics training at company and battalion levels to tactics maneuver involving leading bodies of the headquarters and launched a series of information-oriented training exercises. The officers, experts and professors present at the training exercises offered highly favorable opinions about the brigade's performance. It is quite obvious that this kind of training has reenergized the building-up of combat power of the troops. The PLA general headquarters/departments recently decided to promote the experience of the brigade in bringing in new technologies to their training and in exploring new areas to which networked technologies could be applied.

Over the recent years, the brigade has tapped to the full the existing network resources and integrated automatic command network, TV and telephone systems and simulation systems for training to complete a rather adequate and inclusive training network system connecting leading bodies of the headquarters with battalions and companies. With such a network, the brigade has been actively conducting online training, teaching and test, and making networked training an important means of training for the leading bodies of the headquarters. Theories, skills and discussions of tactics can all be conducted in an online way to improve the abilities of the officers and men to use modern technologies.
