Regiment improves fighting efficiency of armament systems

PLA Daily 2004-06-04

The time was late May. A forest in the central part of Guangdong Province seemed to be so quiet. Suddenly, with an order from the network commanding center of a regiment of the Guangzhou Military Area Command, the informationized weapons, main fighting equipment and various arms of services, which were scattered out in an area of one hundred square li, focused their firepower at the same time on and pounded the "enemy's" vital targets violently.

Regiment Commander Wang Zhisong, who had just returned from the drilling ground, told the reporter that with the wide application of information technologies in modern warfare, the regiment had joined hands with several scientific research institutions and manufacturers to carry out trouble-shooting in terms of new fighting-method researches. During the cooperation, various high-techs, such as network, sensing, data processing, etc., were widely applied. They also carried out reforms on traditional fighting methods by adopting the measures of "grafting, integrating and implanting", improving the overall fighting efficiency of the armament systems. The fighting methods, after reforms, could meet the requirements of informationized warfare better and reflect the characteristics of system integration and integrated fighting.
