Truck regiment of Beijing MAC uses modern management to improve efficiency

PLA Daily 2004-06-04

"Is that on-duty office? I am Zhao Zhihui, commander of the 1st Company. All of our personnel and vehicles have arrived in Beijing safely at 8:00 pm on May 9 after the alteration of driving route." Upon receiving this report, Qiao Ru, the commander of a truck transport regiment of the Beijing Military Area Command, finally felt relieved.

This truck transport regiment has been carrying out material transportation tasks along the 4,000-kilometer-long frontier in Inner Mongolia and even in the entire north China year in and year out. In order to ensure the safety of driving, the officers and men of this regiment have strictly stuck to the rules and regulations, at the same time, they also make use of modern communication technologies to turn static management into dynamic management in order to intensify the control and management of personnel and vehicles engaged in transportation. In addition the regiment also collected communications information in north China areas and the contacting methods with the related departments and units and used them to establish a comprehensive information database. It distributed IC cards to its drivers before they left for missions and required them to report vehicle movements every day. In case they came across dangerous situation, they were required to report immediately. For those carrying out mission in areas where communication conditions were backward, such as on the grasslands or in mountainous areas, drivers would be equipped with self-rescue equipment and satellite telephones so as to ensure smooth communication between drivers and their leaders, and enabled leaders at all levels to keep abreast with the positions of vehicles and their movements and exercise management accordingly.
