In late May, a unit of the Beijing Military Area Command invested over 200,000 yuan, which was originally planned for rebuilding the guesthouse, office buildings and gates of its barracks, to improve the training facilities, the living and cultural conditions of the officers and men of the grassroots. It was well received by the officers and men.
10 years ago, when it was established, the unit took over the buildings which were self-built in 1970s. By then, those buildings were all in shabby conditions with aged water supply lines and electricity cables. The multi-purpose training field and training facilities were nearly obsolete. Facing these difficulties, the Party committee of the unit did not wait for help but changed the backward conditions with the hard works of its officers and men. Since then, they managed to collect over three million yuan to improve the education, training and living infrastructure, to renovate the housing of the grassroots, to build a new multi-purpose training field and to rebuild the dining-halls of the companies and the auditorium.
