Runways were bombed, control towers destroyed, radar stations jammed by hostile electronic interference, the computer terminal at the command post attacked by viruses and the contact between the ground command system and fighters in the air was interrupted´ In the face of a series of emergency events occurred at the beginning of an exercise, the reporter saw several standby commanding vehicles quickly deployed and started to function while technical personnel swiftly restored the local area command network (LAN), at the same time, combatants of signal communication and navigation systems quickly took their respective positions. It took only a few minutes for the troops to restore the functions of paralyzed command system and commander quickly resumed his command over the landing and taking-off of his fighters on the alternate runway. This is a scene of combat drill the reporter saw at an aviation division of the Air Force of the Beijing Military Area Command.
Aiming at meeting the needs of future war, this division has in the past few years made energetic efforts to boost its rapid reaction capability under informationized warfare conditions. To this end, whenever it conducts flying training, it would prepare two sets of command facilities, two commanding teams as well as two technical support groups to meet actual need of real combat. During training, the division conducted position switch training between the two control towers, two commanding teams, two technical support groups as well as between the control tower and mobile commanding vehicles, so as to enable all commanding and technical support personnel to acquire the capability to swiftly start the standby equipment and ensure uninterrupted command of operational flight in case the command post was attacked, information system jammed by hostile electronic jamming device.
