The General Logistics Department (GLD) of the PLA recently issued a "Notice on Readjustment of House Rent of the PLA" and a "Notice on Issues Related to the Readjustment of House Rent Subsidy" to readjust the monthly house rent standard and rent subsidy for serviceperson. The new standard will take effect from May 1, 2004.
The "Notice on Readjustment of House Rent of the PLA" stipulates that the monthly house rent for serviceperson will be increased from 0.60 yuan to 1.20 yuan per square meter of usable floor space. In addition, the notice has also laid down specific stipulations on the calculating method for house rent, the intended targets and scope of house rent increase and reduction or exemption.
The "Notice on Issues Related to the Readjustment of House Rent Subsidy" stipulates that, along with the readjustment of house rent, the rent subsidy for servicepersons (including retired servicemen) should be readjusted and increased accordingly. The new subsidy standard conforms to the principle of "not adding burden to individuals", and for a considerable number of cadres, their house rent outlay will be decreased instead of being increased.
