Above the snowy mountains in the northwest China, a military plane was flying at uniform speed at a low-altitude, and immediately group after group of surveying data came out of the cabin of that plane. This was a scene of using field surveying application software developed by the No. 1 Surveying Group of the PLA General Staff Headquarters to conduct field survey. With the application of the said software, the field surveying IT application of the group has reached a new level.
Since its establishment 50 years ago, the group has given full play to its fine style of being good at fighting and enduring hardships and making a rush on the task in its work, and has developed from a single surveying group into a comprehensive surveying troops which is good at field surveying as well as precision engineering measurement, battlefield construction surveying support, data processing and management. Due to its remarkable achievements, it was honored "Heroic Surveying Group" by the Central Military Commission.
