Ye Keming was a senior communication engineer at an ordinary repair workshop of a signal communication station under the PLA Second Artillery Force, By relying on persistent hard-working spirit in the past two decades, he has grown up from an ordinary soldier into a senior engineer. Through self-study in combination with his own specialty, he has managed to achieve college academic level in singal communication engineering and computer science. He taught himself English and passed College English Test (CET) Band 6, and translated a great deal of signal communication materials on foreign troops and wrote dozens of academic papers. He also compiled A Manual on Wartime Signal Communication Support for Troops in Plateau Area. In addition, he developed an audio alarming system and a training simulator, etc. Besides, he has also helped troops repair thousand pieces of signal communication equipment, saving over 500,000 yuan for these troops. Because of his outstanding achievements, he was awarded titles of "Model Individual in Equipment Repair" and " Model Individual in Military Training Featuring Science and Technology".
