On March 7, Gao Chunfang (center), member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and president of the No. 150 Hospital of the Jinan Military Area Command said at the panel discussion that: " 'Government Work Report' mentioned three priorities in developing health undertakings, all of them embody the idea of putting people first. Members in the medical and health system have great responsibilities in doing these three things well." Before coming to Beijing, Gao made an investigation on the medical and health situation in the rural area. Among the investigated farmers, 70% know very little about health knowledge, over 60% schools under county level have no health knowledge course. The ratio of disease monitoring and control centers to the total of health organizations is rather small. Gao Chunfang proposed to strengthen public health system construction and step up efforts to improve rural medical and health conditions and to make new contributions for the health quality of the whole people.
