When interviewed, Cheng Xiaojian, a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and deputy chief of staff of an aviation division came straight to the point and said that more attention should be paid to specific issues of national defense regulation publicity and the regulations should be implemented more strictly. She added that, though China made many laws and regulations regarding national defense and army building in recent years, some of them had not been implemented well. For example, related regulations prohibited high-rises near airfields, but the regulations were ignored in some places. Her suggestion was that the publicity of national defense laws and regulations should be strengthened and any violation of these laws and regulations must be punished accordingly so as to make them understand the consequences of breaking these laws and regulations.
