On February 11, more than 600 officers of a mechanized division in the Shenyang Military Area Command listened intently to a lesson offered on the division's electronic teaching network. Their lecturer was Ma Sheng, a new recruit from the No. 4 company. The leader of the division told reporters that the division valued the role of network talents among the new recruits. Up to now, more than 100 new recruits have become backbone professionals in network technology.
Last year, upon the arrival of the new recruits, the leaders of the division learned that among them were a host of enthusiasts of computer and network technology and some even had acquired national certificates in computer science. To make these soldiers become a backbone force to boost the application of IT, the division decided to establish cooperation ties with local institutions of higher learning and communication network companies to train their soldiers in network technology. At the same time, they also sent technicians from the automation station periodically to offer training to these recruits. The new soldiers were also given the chance to conduct training exercises on automated stations and remote terminals and to participate in various kinds of online competitions and contests to perfect their skills. In addition, the division also organized these soldiers to join the projects of IT applications in its troops. As a result, over a hundred recruits have shown up prominently after being trained and participating in more than 20 kinds technological innovations, including a project called " vehicle-mounted information warfare platform".
