"If two flowers can't blossom at the same time, let one of them blossom more gorgeously," this is the commitment made by a lady called Sun Lihong, wife of Liang Guoliang, commander of the 4th Battalion of an artillery regiment under the Shenyang Military Area Command. Sun has just been awarded title of "National Top 100 Outstanding Spouses of Servicemen".
Years ago Sun got acquainted with Liang Guoliang in military uniform on a train. After more than one years' mail correspondence, they fell in love and got married. The following year, Sun Lihong gave birth to their son. At that time, her parents-in-law were advanced in age and often fell ill while Liang was in the army, Sun took the responsibility of waiting upon them.
When Liang was promoted to be deputy battalion commander, Sun was able to accompany him in battalion according to stipulation. But this means she had to give up her own career. Leaders of her unit try to persuade her to continue to work in the unit and promised to provide her with apartment house. It was a difficult decision for her to make, and after careful consideration, Sun decided to carry her child and joined her husband.
Arriving at the troops, Sun intended to find a teaching job, but only found herself ran into snags and be foiled everywhere. Later, she went to the job fair market to seek job and began to work as tutor or baby sitter or substitute teacher. Shortly after that, she began to run public telephone booth and shop, and drive taxi, and let her husband focus on his military career.
Backed by Sun Lihong, Liang Guoliang was awarded title of "vanguard in military training" for years in succession. When he was promoted to be battalion commander, his battalion won citation from the higher level for its outstanding performance in military skill contest. In the past few years, thanks to his outstanding work, Liang was awarded Merit Citation, First Class for once, Second Class for twice and, Third Class for seven times. In addition, he also won Gold Medal in Learning from Lei Feng awarded by the Military Area Command; his battalion was awarded the title of "Model Battalion in Military Training Featuring New Technologies". Sun Lihong has been awarded the title of "Good Spouse of Serviceman" for many years. In March last year, Sun was granted the honor of "National Top 100 Outstanding Spouses of Servicemen" jointly by All China Women's Federation and the PLA General Political Department.
