Zeng Di is a third-class NCO of an anti-aircraft artillery regiment of the Chengdu Military Area Command. During his vacation at his hometown recently, he fought bravely to catch two burglars; unfortunately he was critically injured during the fight. The local leaders and the people in Nanxi County, Sichuan Province tried their best to save his life. Yesterday, the Party committee of a division made a decision, calling on all the officers and men to learn from him.
On the early morning of December 22 last year, Zeng Di found a burglar in his house when he went to the toilet. "Stop chief!" Zeng cried out and then ran after the burglar. When he came to the first floor, he saw another burglar running out from Zeng's neighbor's. The two thieves then ran in different directions. Zeng ran after the one closer to him. When he was about two meters from the thief, Zeng pounced on the burglar. When Zeng bent down to subdue him, the burglar hit Zeng with a flashlight and blood immediately ran down Zeng's face´. The burglar then took out a 40cm-long drill steel to thrust at Zeng's canthus. "I must not let the burglar run away to hurt other people!" With all forces, Zeng seized the drill steel from the burglar and held the burglar down on the ground.
Ten minutes later, several teachers and students of Liujiazhen High School rushed over after hearing the news and helped him to catch the burglar. At this moment, Zeng was dying due to heavy loss of blood. Some teachers and students immediately sent Zeng to the township people's hospital while others delivered the burglar to the police station. After the incident, the Party committee of the Nanxi County and the head of Nanxi County rushed to the hospital, instructing the hospital to organize special medical team to go all out to save Zeng's life. Thanks to the efforts of the doctors, Zeng is now out of danger.
