On the afternoon of Dec. 25, 2003, a piece of good news came from a communication regiment of the Beijing Military Area Command: the award-winning "auto optical terminal alerting system", developed by Technician Li Shigao, would be popularized throughout the whole army. According to the sources, this regiment won 11 Military Scientific and Technological Progress Awards in the past two years. By signing agreements with 6 local colleges and scientific research institutes, the regiment invited more than 30 experts, professors and engineers to act as technical instructors for the officers and men of the regiment. Besides, the regiment also sent 37 persons to further pursue their study in the PLA Chongqing Communication Institute, etc.
