In the cold winter, officers and men working at the fighter hangars and maintenance hangars in frigid areas don't have to worry about maintenance problem resulting from cold weather now. The Engineering Design Research Bureau of the PLA Air Force has developed a radiation heating system for high-ceilinged buildings, which enables the room temperature in high-ceilinged buildings to raise from 3≧ to 15≧ so as to ensure the normal operation of maintenance work in those buildings. It is learned that the said research result has been successfully applied in the large armaments depots of troops stationed in northeast, northwest and north China areas.
This heating system can not only freely adjust the room temperature in high-ceilinged military buildings between 5≧-24≧, but also save enormous money. For example, when this system is installed in a 18-meter-high depot, the initial investment alone has saved 240,000 yuan and its operational cost is only 56% of the traditional heating system, while the temperature has increased 15≧ compared to that of the traditional heating system. This system, integrating comfort, safety and environment protection, has remarkable economic and military benefits. As a result, it has won Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
