As the year is drawing to a close, good news has just come from the environment protection and afforestation front of our army: 5 units and 8 individuals have been awarded national advanced units and model individuals in building garden-city emulation drive by the Ministry of Construction, 100 units have been awarded "Green Barracks" and commended by the Environment Protection and Afforestation Commission of the army.

　　In recent years, guided by the important thought of "Three Represents", the military units of the whole army have acted on the important instructions of the Central Committee of the CPC, State Council and the Central Military Commission, namely to strengthen ecological environment improvement to achieve sustainable development. In line with the general objectives laid down for the 10th Five-Year Plan period, vigorous efforts have been made to prevent pollution of barracks and to afforest military barracks. Thanks to the efforts of the whole army, the afforestation missions have been successfully completed and the environment of barracks have been greatly improved. Five units such as Environment Protection and Afforestation Commission Office of the Shenyang Military Area Command and 8 individuals have been awarded national advanced units and individuals in building garden-city activities and 100 units such as an anti-aircraft artillery unit under the Beijing Military Area Command have been awarded the title of "Green Barrack".
