¡¡¡¡In this cold winter, upon arriving at a training base of the Beijing Military Area Command, the newly recruited soldiers could feel warm everywhere at the beginning of their service life. It is the common understanding of the leaders of the training base to enable all the newly recruited soldiers feel being concerned in the barracks. At the training ground, the reporter noticed that all the recruits were dressed in warm thick cotton gloves and fur hats while the drillmasters only wore mono-layer gloves.
¡¡¡¡According to Ai Youfu, commander of the recruit regiment, the temperature had dropped to £11¡æ there and in order to enable all newly recruited soldiers that came from southern areas to adapt to the cold weather of northern China, they provided the recruits with various anti-cold services while sticking to strict requirements in training. Every morning, the drillmasters helped the soldiers to learn how to wash faces with cold water. Before going to bed, the recruits were provided with hot water to wash. At the same time, frostbite preventive cream was also provided. All these measures could help enhance the capability of the soldiers against cold and prevent cold and frostbite from happening.
¡¡¡¡In light of the dietary habit of soldiers from the north, the training base selected 3 cooks good at cooking wheaten food and specially worked out homely menus. With the increasing of training intensity, the recruits of the training base could enjoy nutritional meals according to various training stages to ensure their calorie supply.
¡¡¡¡While conducting strict management in an all-round way of the soldiers, the training base also arranged colorful cultural activities in leisure time. As the training base is located in a remote area far away from big cities, in order to make it easy for the soldiers to contact their families, the training base provided letter paper and contact means of the base to them in advance and¡¡specially arranged a vehicle to deliver and collect letters and newspapers every day. 8 IP DDD telephones were also installed in the barracks.
