Recently, a general communication station of the Chengdu Military Area Command achieved excellent results in three aspects, i.e. local network management central system, safety and security system and maintenance of terminal node, during acceptance check on maintenance, management and guard system of trans-theatre optical fiber communication network, organized by the general headquarters, and thereby won favorable commends from the appraisal group.

　　Units if this general station are scattered in two provinces and one city of Southeast China, and are responsible for guarding, maintaining and managing thousands of kilometers of national defense optical fibre. They have experienced many difficulties in dynamic tracing and communication. In order to do a better job, they have raised funds to build up stations and sentries, which integrated the functions of communication, guard, maintenance and management along the line successively. Besides, they have also secured hundred sets of network equipment, monitoring equipment and conference equipment, such as televisions and telephones for the battalions, companies, stations and sentries, forming a multi-layer, scattered and unified comprehensive business communication network.

　　In order to establish a guard and maintenance workgroup, with a perfect mastery of technology and strong supporting capability, experts from military academy and institutions were invited to give lectures to the soldiers. Besides, 19 backbones were selected to attend courses and trainings in military academy and systematical trainings were carried out among technicians and officers and men in all battalions and companies. Currently, every specific technician in the general station has reached the second-class computer operation level or above.

　　For the purpose of boosting comprehensive effectiveness of the communication network, the general station has teamed up with local communications department to share information resources, accelerating the development of military communication and ensuring the smooth running of normal communication. During the past years, over one hundred important communication-supporting tasks have been completed by them with no accident occurred.
