On Dec 3, a forest fire occurred at a forestry farm in the Qinling Mountains. Officers and men of a logistics support brigade of the reserve force set off immediately and put out the fire in 11 minutes with individual backpack extinguishers developed by themselves.

　　This type of individual backpack extinguisher is a scientific achievement made by officers and men of this brigade in their activities to invigorate trainings by applying science and technology. The extinguisher, portable and efficient, can be used to spray water as well as anti-fire chemical spray. It has continuous and intermittent spray fire-extinguishing functions, and can be used for firefight at warehouses, bases, and docks as well as firefight for high-rise buildings at the initial stage of fire disaster. The extinguisher, being on a par with the advanced world level, has been awarded the Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award. At the Exhibition on Achievements of Invigorating Trainings by Applying Science and Technology sponsored by the Lanzhou Military Area Command, this type of extinguisher also got favorable comments from the experts.
