 PLA Daily 2003-12-10

Tidings of great joy came from "The 1st Model Company of the Red Army" in the Guangzhou Military Area Command that the soldiers demobilized this year have all been employed by local units, and 7 soldiers have been employed by a Chinese enterprise based in Singapore. Deputy general manager Li, who was once a soldier, told the reporter: "We decided to take on these soldiers because we take a fancy to the makings they have which are invaluable for work."

In recent years, "The 1st Model Company of the Red Army", which came into being in the Jinggang Mountain during the revolutionary days, has always taken strengthening ideological and political education as its primary task. As a result, the quality of officers and men has been constantly improved. Every year when veterans are to be demobilized, many local units would come to the company to ask for veterans. The 7 retired soldiers employed by the Chinese enterprise in Singapore this time are all backbones of the company, who were commended many times during their term of service. Facing the issue of either being demobilized or continuing to stay in the army, they all showed high political consciousness.

For those 7 soldiers, after going through the demobilization formalities at their hometown, they will go to their new working unit. Their working unit will have their passports ready for them. Fu Yuanshuai, who was squad leader of the 7th Squad, said excitedly: "Thanks to the training we have received in the army, we have been offered with such good opportunities." Other officers and men also came to realize that they would have a lot of employment opportunities as long as they can constantly boost their own quality.
