In late November, a certain motorized infantry brigade of the Lanzhou Military Area Command carried out its exercise in Tenggeli Desert. The aim was to improve the motorized combat effectiveness under sandstorm conditions. The troop went forward rapidly in the curtain of night at the speed of 60 kilometers per hour. It showed that the mobile combat effectiveness of the brigade had improved further.
The motorized infantry brigade focused on actual combat, and improved their mobile combat effectiveness of present equipment continuously. They referred to mobile tactics of foreign army in desert battles, and invited experts concerned to offer suggestions. Accordingly, they shaped up a training system of connection and coordination, branching out and gathering in mobile movement. In order to improve the mobile battle effectiveness of the present equipment, they organized actual loading and moving out each year. Besides, they strengthened the training of the drivers in carrying coal on complex roads in the world of ice and snow, and made sure that milemeter of each driver on complex roads per year should be added up to more than 2,000 kilometers. Aiming at providing support under sandstorm conditions, aerial defense and anti-electronic attacks, they developed over 10 mobile battle tactics. Hence, the mobile battle exercise realized the change from "piecemeal" training to an integrated one. In order to improve their mobile ability, they collected weather information in the desert of nearly one thousand square kilometers, and carried out training in actual combat by capitalizing on the opportunities of supporting local economic construction and disaster relief. By now, the brigade has made great improvement in the mobile battle effectiveness of the brigade under sandstorm conditions.
The reporter on the spot saw that they made studies on the training during the several days' exercise. And the troop successively stood the test of night march and long-distance journey under sandstorm conditions. Finally it took less than 2 hours for the troop to arrive at the destination from receiving the order to completing night march on unfamiliar roads which was over 90 kilometers.
