An artillery regiment of the Guangzhou Military Area Command is stationed in an area inhabited by ethnic minorities. Since 1998 the regiment have received dozens of college students, among whom 12 were from ethnic minorities, such as Zhuang, Miao, Dong and Mongolia. The regiment Party committee helped them to lay a solid military foundation by assigning outstanding grassroots officers to pass on experience to them and gave whatever help they need. On this basis, the Party committee boldly assigned them to command posts. Due to their excellent performance at their own posts, these college student officers have won third class merit citations.
