The members of the Party standing committee of a unit under the Guangzhou Military Area Command are made up of eight master's degree holders, and they led their troops to make many breakthroughs in information technology application. In the past three years that unit won 24 Military Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, and one of project called "remote network information intelligence system" received a first class Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
This unit is a technical support unit. After the 8 master's degree holders took charge of the unit, they first earnestly studied Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building, and then used their rich scientific knowledge to solve long-standing problems that were hindering the development of information technology application in their troops. They decided to make breakthrough on some key technological problems, such as digitalizing their equipment and strengthening remote information analysis and so on so as to increase the overall support power of the troops.
The committee also showed great courage in making scientific decision concerning development of the troops. It encountered a series of difficulties when it led troops to renovate information recipient equipment. Tian Xuefeng, a master's degree holder graduating from the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and member of the committee, led his team to analyze the causes of failures, and then adopted new approaches for their research and quickly solved the problems. They finally succeeded and won a second-class Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
Under the leadership of the Party committee, modernization drive of its troops has been obviously sped up, a large numbers of talents trained, and the support power of the troops greatly boosted.
