Liu Zongtai, director of a weapon depot of the Jinan Military Area Command stationed in the Taihang Mountains, has been working in the logistics departments for 20 years since he joined the army, and has, in light of the requirements of the modern warfare towards logistics, developed and renovated 13 different logistics support equipment, such as field assembling kitchen unit, portable controlled recharger and field mobile depot, etc., of which 6 were granted national patents, 4 have now been widely used in the army, and 2 were awarded the third-class Military Scientific and Technological Achievement Awards.　Liu himself won a second-class merit citation, and was cited as one of the national pacesetters who excel in both military and civilian service. He was also called by other officers and men "an expert in renovation from the mountainous area".
