Although it's only October, the Cuona Area of Tibet was already covered with snow. When visiting the frontier companies and sentries of a regiment, what the writer saw was: warm indoors, and enough daily commodities to tide the front line officers and men over the long winter when the mountain would be sealed by snow.
Most companies of the regiment are stationed on snowy mountains on the plateau. Every year, the period that snow seals the mountain is as long as 8 months, which can cause problems such as no vegetables and no heating facilities. This year, the Party committee of the regiment was determined not to let a single officer and man suffer cold and a single meal without vegetables. From the beginning of September, they began to transport winter materials for front line companies and sentries. A special transportation team was formed to transport more than 50 kinds of winter materials such as rice, flour, vegetables, cans and oil for them.
In addition, they have also raised 50,000 yuan to establish a non-staple food supply base to supply the frontier officers and men with more variety of food. They have also invested 30,000 yuan to install solar energy showers for 6 companies and to provide small generators and cultural and entertainment equipment to 15 companies and sentries.
