In later autumn, the communication element of a group army of the Beijing Military Area Command conducted in complex mountainous area a field communication support exercise under real battle conditions to upgrade the communication troops' capability of fulfilling emergency mobilization and coordinated support.
There was no preplanning for the exercise, which proceeded at random and for 24 successive hours. At the beginning of the exercise, the "Blue Army" with advanced equipment conducted fierce network electronic strike on the command and control center of the "Red Army". However, the "Red Army" was well prepared. It immediately constructed a wall of network protection and electronic defense. As the strike on the net failed, the "Blue Army" used the most advanced equipment for information warfare to conduct an all-round electromagnetism nick, the communication of the "Red Army" broke off suddenly. But the commanders of the "Red Army" decided rapidly to use the covered communication network to send text, image and audio data to the headquarters by adopting anti-jaming measures such as electromagnetism shielding. The "Blue Army" then adopted other tactics, but the "Red Army" delt with them calmly and smartly.
In the exercise, by taking the steps of theoretic analysis, planning on maps, online drilling and on-site simulated exercise, the commanders' capabilities of making battle situation analysis and judgment, decision-making, rapid information disposal and coordinated battling were all improved. In this exercise, the communication element finished several drilling subjects and gathered over 100 groups of data and sorted out more than 100, 000 words of battlefield information and perfected the combat methods on information warfare, precision firepower warfare and network and electronics integration warfare. The troops' capabilities of conducting battlefield command and coordination and providing information support were upgraded as a whole.
