The public lecture on Xu Liaoyuan's heroic deed was held yesterday at the Shannan Military Sub-command of the Tibet Military Area Command. Xu Liaoyuan is a deputy company commander of the Shannan Military Sub-command. At the meeting Xu was granted a first-class merit citation medal.

　　On July 13, Xu, who was on holiday in Pengshan County, Sichuan Province, saved a local young girl who was threatened by hooligans. But later, seven criminal suspects made revenge and assaulted Xu, as a result Xu was serious injured. The mass media coverage of Xu's heroic deed arouses wide repercussion in the local community and people flocking to the hospital to visit Xu amount to more than 1000 person/times. The Pengshan County People's Government granted him the title of "Heroic Citizen of Pengshan County". All-China Heroic Deed Foundation gave Xu 5,000 yuan as a reward for his heroic action. Pengshan County and Meishan Prefecture issued a call to learn from Xu. In order to praise Xu's heroic deed, the Tibet Military Area Command decided to grant first-class merit to Xu and called on officers and men throughout the command to learn from him.
