On each side of an avenue in the barracks of a regiment of the Lanzhou Military Area Command stand a lot of colorful display boards with pictures of pacesetters of the regiment. The avenue is called "Pacesetters Corridor" by the servicemen, which is not only a bright scene of the regiment, but also tells you a lot of moving stories.

　　Chen Dongwu is the commander of the 1st Company; his home is not far from the barracks. But since he got married and became a father, Chen entrusted his wife and his son to his mother-in-law and devoted all his time to the building of the company. The overall building of the company made great progress and Chen's photo has been posted on the board too. But his wife had much complaint about him. Recently, his son had a high fever one night and was sent to hospital, but Chen did not go home even after the boy was recovered. His wife was infuriated and came to the barrack with his son to reason with him.

　　When they came to the corridor, Chen's photo on the board met their eyes and the little boy ran to the board calling "daddy", for he had not met his father for a long time. Thinking of the contributions Chen had made for the building of the company, Chen's wife changed her mind and took the boy back home.

　　Liu Jinming, commander of the missile company, is a famous "technical star" in the regiment and his photo had been posted on the board for three times. Liu is now 28 years old and still a bachelor. His family introduced a girl named Qiao Xiaoxia to him, the said girl is a university graduate who is now teaching in a school in Chengdu. Qiao agreed to be Liu's girlfriend, but her mother intervened. In order to convince her daughter, Qiao's mother brought Qiao to the barrack to make an private investigation.

　　The mother and daughter traveled by cars and trains to the barracks, along the way, as they approach the barracks, they saw the surroundings were becoming more and more desolated and they became a little bit disappointment. But as they entered the barracks, they were immediately attracted by the garden-like barracks dotted with colorful light-boards.

　　The mother and daughter viewed the boards and found Liu was a handsome boy and beneath his photo there was a comment: Liu Jinming was awarded a second-class merit citation, for he had made outstanding contributions in missile production. " It can't be wrong to choose such a young man as a spouse". Qiao's mother said.
