It's a must to study the hotspots and difficulties of general equipment support at the levels of strategy, campaign and tactics, and solve such problems as theoretical guidance, procedure, content and method to enrich and perfect the equipment support theory system. From the "Military General Equipment support Method Symposium" held yesterday, the reporter learned that the general equipment support theoretical study of the army has been systematized.

　　The symposium was organized by the General Equipment Support Department of the General Armaments Department of the PLA. Nearly one hundred representatives from the military area commands, Navy, Air Force, Second Artillery Force, Academy of Military Sciences, National University of Defense Technology conducted in-depth discussion on the equipment support construction of the armed forces through the study on the U. S and Iraq's equipment support situation in Iraq War. They summed up the characteristics and rules of the general equipment support in the future informationized operation and probed into the direction, objective and key of general equipment support development. These research achievements followed Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building and kept an eye on world military changes and closely related with the preparation for the military struggle in the new period and the main task that the armed forces shouldered, it embodied the characteristic of keeping pace with the times and bold exploration.
