BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Minister of National Defense Cao Gangchuan held talks here Tuesday with his Tanzanian counterpart Philemon Sarungi.
Friendly relations between China and Tanzania have developed smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1964, said General Cao, also vice-chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission and a state councilor.
Cao said military leaders from China and Tanzania enjoyed frequent and close exchanges, setting a model for the world. The Chinese armed forces are willing to promote the friendly cooperation between the two armies together with the Tanzanian armed forces.
Sarungi said China played a major role in international affairs and was an integral member of the developing world. The two nations enjoyed successful cooperation in the past and would have promising further cooperation. Tanzania will adhere to the one-China policy, he said.
Sarungi and his party started their six-day visit in China on Monday at Cao's invitation.
