A road engineer company of the Xinjang Military Area Command, is one of the engineer companies stationing at the highest altitude in the PLA. The regiment undertakes the mission of maintaining frontier roads on highlands of over 5000 meters above the sea level. Though working in the snowy mountainous region which is cold year round with thin air and almost no traces of human presence, the officers and men of the company have accomplished perfectly the road maintenance tasks backed by their perseverance and excellent specialized techniques. The picture shows the soldiers of the company are having a rush repair at a flood-damaged section of the frontier road at the height of 5200 meters above the sea level.
