On Sep. 3, the end of the last test item declared the success of the plateau adaptability test of a new series of plateau military engineering machinery. The test was conducted in Pamirs and lasted for almost 20 days.

　　According to experts, compared with the index value got on the plain, the power and the torque of the common engineering machinery will drop about 8% to 12% with every 1000-meter increase of altitude. The road conditions are poor in the plateau areas such as the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Tibet Autonomous Region and the road maintenance responsibility at many sections has fallen on local troops. In order to help improve the maintenance level and efficiency, the related departments of the PLA General Armaments Department developed a new series of military engineering machinery for the purpose.
