The new field survival protection device project has been completed by the Quartermaster Equipment Research Institute of the General Logistics Department of the PLA.

　　The new field survival device consists of tent, raincoat, sleeping bag and tent poles and is a kind of multi-function survival equipment system fit for field use. The device has two different types respectively for temperate area and frigid area. The device for temperate area is mainly used in the field with a temperature above -15℃ and the device used in frigid area applies for the temperature above -30℃. The device has solved the problems of preventing rain, wind, damp, cold and mosquitoes and insects and so on for the officers and men in field.

　　According to experts, the new device employed the system engineering theory and knockdown design, which realized the integration of multi-functions and applications. The reporter noticed on the demonstration spot that the device integrated raincoat and single tent tarpaulin, which could protect the user and the equipment from rain when it was used as raincoat and as tent tarpaulin. It is convenient to assemble, dismantle, ventilate and guard against rain and mosquitoes and insects in summer and prevent from wind and dust in spring, autumn and winter. The new raincoat has strong tear resistance and damp permeable capability with special material, which enhanced its application in field environment. The sleeping bag employed newly developed compound warm material which could not only keep warm but also was very light, and could be applied in the quick actions of the troops. The new sleeping mat has fine springiness and wear-resisting, and can separate cold, damp and water and prevent damage from sharp stones to the user, which ensure the comfort of sleeping.
