July 19, 1956, the first-generation jet fighter J-5 independently produced by China had a successful maiden flight at an airport in northeast China, with all its parts and components manufactured in China. This made China one of the few countries in the world that were able to mass-produce jet fighters and pushed our aviation industry to the jet era.
