MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/. The first military patriotic park of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will open at the Korla training range in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region during the 2018 International Army Games (ArMY-2018), Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday.

"The Patriot military patriotic park of culture and leisure is being prepared for its opening at the Korla training range in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China as part of the ArMY-2018 Games. The site is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s armament and military hardware," the ministry said.

The park is a museum compound in the open air. The exposition will feature about 100 pieces of military hardware of the last several decades. Visitors will be able to view Type 88A, Type 96 and Type 96B tanks, Type 86A and 04A infantry fighting vehicles, the PLZ07 122mm self-propelled howitzer, the Type PHL 03 300mm multiple launch rocket system, the Type 92 armored personnel carrier and other weapon systems. Engineering equipment is represented by the heavy mechanized bridge and the obstacle-clearing vehicle.

The military component is not the park’s sole part. Ethnographic and cultural-historical clusters have been set up on the compound’s territory to demonstrate the samples of Chinese calligraphy, national painting, nephrite items, and also many handcrafted articles.

The militaries from Russia, China and other countries participating in the Safe Route international contest will be the first to visit the park. After an excursion is organized for them, the park will be open for all visitors.

The Russian Armed Forces’ military patriotic park Patriot was opened outside Moscow in June 2015. It features the military and historical compound called the Guerilla Village, the Center of Military and Tactical Games, the Congress and Exhibition Center while its open air sites demonstrate models of Soviet and Russian military hardware. When the park hosts large-scale events, it is attended by several dozen thousand visitors, including from foreign countries. Currently, work is underway to create the park’s local branches in several Russian regions.
